Frequently Asked Questions: Multi-Project

How many copies of cc-Pulse and cc-MPulse do I need?

One copy of cc-Pulse per project manager.

In addition, typically one project manager is designated the Enterprise Analyst. This person manages the Enterprise Model, and requires a copy of cc-MPulse. cc-MPulse contains a complete copy of cc-Pulse. We define an Enterprise as the set of resources that interact to produce a set of products. If resources are not shared across projects, they may be segmented into a seperate resource pool.

Is cc-Pulse and cc-MPulse compatible with Project Server/Central/EPM
Yes.

Do I need cc-MPulse to manage project to project relationships?

Projects interact with each other two major ways:

1) Through cross-project precedence dependencies,
2) Through shared resources.

cc-Pulse is sufficient to manage a set of projects with cross-project connections. This is covered in the cc-Pulse Help> cc-Pulse Topics of Interest and Advanced Features > Using cc-Pulse with Cross-Project Dependencies.
Changing between planning and tracking modes with cross-project dependencies was enabled in cc-Pulse 2.1.9 (Released 3/10/2006) and later.

cc-Mpulse is needed when the interaction across projects is mainly via the shared resources.
